Facility Specs

Bright, Spacious, Cool, Dry The total underground facility measures 570,000 square feet. There are two entrances/exits and three additional emergency exits, all of which are secure and monitored.

The facility is very secure. The overall underground has limited and monitored access. Each building will be a stand-alone facility with its customized security system. Each building will be protected from tornado and windstorms, flooding, lightning and earthquakes. The underground is located 260 feet above the Ohio River, the nearest major water source.

Ceiling heights in the underground are ideal for data center buildings. The underground ceiling height is 24 feet. After the six-foot gap for the fresh air plenum and floor/ceiling thickness, each building will have at least 14 feet concrete floor to concrete ceiling heights, unless the tenant specifies less.

Diesel generators back up the entire power network. The generators are in an underground building, protected from the elements, but also have remote mounted radiators near an outside opening for ventilation purposes. The generator building is also under constant surveillance by camera and has alarm points at its entryways.

The underground generator and fuel storage area is designed to support 24 megawatts of generator capacity and 125,000 gallons of fuel storage. The first two 2.25-MW Caterpillar generators are already in place.

The master plan allows for a second underground generator facility that can provide an additional 24 megawatts of backup power.
